Toad Hollow Archers Scraesdon Fort Weekend
The Fort
This is not a fort with short manicured grass, nice shiny white paint or even tidy. This fort is used by the military to practice urban fighting, the grass and surrounds are natural, the walls are rough and unpainted in many places and the fort shows signs of its hard existence
Make no mistake, this is not a film set, or a mock up, this is a real Fort. It is made of bricks, stones and concrete and was built with the sweat and muscle of The Royal Engineers in the 1800's
Built as part of the Ring of Fire defences it formed the western defenses of the city and naval dockyards of Plymouth.
Today it is still owned by the Ministry of Defense and is an operational training fort used by the Army, Marines, Navy and men in trendy black balaclavas. Now we add to that list Toad Hollow Archers as we host our most ambitious special shoot yet
The Fort rises tall in the countryside 4 miles from Torpoint, near to the village of Antony in the picturesque Cornish Countryside just over the border from Devon
This is a truly exceptional and unique fort, it opens new areas that we can use, there are no other inhabitants, no offices, no restrictions on where we can use or where we can go to make this shoot a fantastic experience for all archers of all ages
The fort is larger, the buildings are taller, the passageways and tunnels go deeper and we will use the moat and the deepest longest tunnels for the shoot, every corner turned takes you to a completely different area, who knows where you will end up ?
Amongst the history of the fort it has been used in numerous films and parts of the fort were used in the filming of the television series Colditz
Oh and there is a rumour that the fort is haunted, so if you see someone floating around, it may not be a target, or is it ?
